Yoga healed me from
severe Covid-19

From being in the ICU to surprising doctors with a quick recovery

Ashok S Upadhyay

I developed a fever on the 20th of June 2020 and tested positive for Covid-19. After three days of self-treatment, I started getting treated by general practitioners, however my condition did not improve. By the 27th of June, my condition deteriorated so significantly that I had to be admitted under severe Covid-19 infection conditions to the ICU. Till the 26th I was regularly doing my morning yoga and Sudarshan Kriya practices. On the morning of the 27th, however, I simply could not get up.

However, after 17 days of treatment (including 12 days on oxygen, and getting so critically ill that I had to be put on the ventilator), I started improving and was finally discharged on 13th July 2020. I restarted yoga in the hospital itself, after being moved to the recuperation ward.

Two weeks after discharge, the doctor was surprised to see my recovery. He remarked, "Your recovery is miraculous." He proved his point by pointing out the two X-Ray reports from the day of admission and the day of the follow-up. The first was completely hazy and the second was completely clear. After prescribing a multivitamin, he said endearingly, "Don't show me your face again." I did not need further check-ups. I attribute this recovery to my yoga practice that I began last April and continued through my illness as well.

I thank Gurudev for giving us Sudarshan Kriya and implore all sadhaks to continue doing the same as a part of a healthy lifestyle.
