What is intuition? Why
is it important?

Srinivas Ramanujan, the famous Indian mathematician, had almost no formal training in pure mathematics. Yet, at the age of 15, he was able to ‘download’ thousands of equations from the ‘all-pervading database’ surrounding him. These were according to Ramanujan revealed to him by Goddess Lakshmi. Or shall we say his INTUITION?

What is meant by intuition?

“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

- Albert Einstein

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar shares that among the three levels of knowledge, the first knowledge is sensory (obtained from the five senses) and is individualized with limitations. The second one is knowledge from inference or intellect. The third is intuitive awareness higher than intellectual knowledge. Intuition (the sixth sense) is a source of universal knowledge beyond time and space. It defies your reasoning or logic. That is the reason Albert Einstein mentioned it as a sacred gift.

Why is intuition important?

ResearchGate has conducted a series of studies to reveal the role and importance of intuition in innumerable fields like strategic and managerial decision-making, nursing, teaching, and collective learning.

Without intuition, success in any field is next to impossible, especially in business. With sixth sense, you know what and how to communicate. A sense of confidence dawns in you with the right thought at the right time. It helps you grow in whichever field you wish to by overcoming obstacles that come your way.

Impulsive behavior leads to disasters. Intuition helps overcome impulsive behavior and improves self-control.

Intuition reduces the load on your cognitive mind. With intuition, you can respond instantly with a high percentage of accuracy. Stockbrokers, doctors, students, and sportsmen use this aspect of intuition.

Alka Tej, mother of Divyakriti, a horse-rider, dressage, and Polo champion, shares, “Diyakriti can communicate with horses after the intuition process.”

How to develop intuition?

If you are not feverish but sensitive, you have this gut feeling, which is nothing but intuition. If you have wants, likes and dislikes, all of this may hide or distort your intuition. For a clear intuition, you need to meditate and have a calm mind. Meditation helps you get to the source of intuition. Then clarity comes and intuitive abilities dawn on you.

Help your children and teens unlock their sixth sense with Prajñā Yoga - Intuition Process. It involves simple exercises and meditation to enhance intuitive abilities in children.

Now the question is how to increase intuition power in adults? When you are still and quiet, whatever thoughts come to your mind become true and manifest. You might have experienced this at some time in your life. When you do not desire anything and repose within your Self, intuition and clarity dawn in you.

Not being feverish about anything doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wish for everyone’s well-being. You should wish and pray for the progress and well-being of everyone around you. This deep desire is equal to having no desire at all. This state of wishing well for everyone sparks the intuitive ability in you.
