1st International Yoga Day in Luxembourg: YOGATHON and More

On the initiative of the Indian Government, the United Nations has decided that, starting in 2015, the 21st June will be the International Day of Yoga.


The Ambassador and Consul of India to Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Mayor of the City of Luxembourg are actively supporting this Day. The Art of Living Foundation Luxembourg, in cooperation with all the yoga schools in Luxembourg and the Fédération Nationale des Ecoles Luxembourgeoises de Yoga (FNELY) proposes the following activities, free of charge and accessible to all. No previous knowledge of Yoga is necessary:

The day will begin at 09.00am with 25 minutes a common session, which will be similar throughout the world, consisting of poses, meditation and an Indian prayer. 

This will be followed by 2 sets of 25-minute workshops, starting at 09.30 until 10h30 am, offering various types of yoga, in different languages (French, English, German and Luxembourgish).

GIANT YOGATHON:
The highlight of the event will the organisation of the 1st YOGATHON organised in Luxembourg, with 108 Sun Salutations challenge. To be attended in solo or performed as a team. 

Open to everyone, yoga goers or total beginners, this will be an ongoing session from 10.30 to 12.30. It will be possible to join in to perform a part of the challenge, sharing the effort either as a team or as a family, and children will be welcome. Here, too, you will learn by taking part and flow in this secular Yogic sequence of Sun Salutations.

 

Seated classes on chairs will also be offered for those who are unable to sit on the ground.
The teachers will be dressed in white. If you wish to take part, come in comfortable sports wear in which you can move easily, and bring a yoga mat or a bath-towel. We will exercise on the grass, sitting, lying or standing.

 

South Indian Buffet: gourmet's and home made South Indian food will also be served for the special occasion, for every one to enjoy and discover.
