Ma Katyayani is worshipped on the sixth day of the Navratri celebrations. The sixth form of Navadurga, Devi Katyayani is said to have been formed when the collective anger of all the Devas combined and merged with the Devi Shakti. That energy took the form of Devi Katyayani who rode a lion and killed Demon Mahishasura.
