Bengaluru: The Art of Living’s Yoga center, Sri Sri School of Yoga (SSSY) has been officially certified as a Yoga School under Ministry of AYUSH’s voluntary certification schemes of yoga schools.

"We are delighted that Art of Living has chosen to go for Yoga school certification under the Ministry of AYUSH-QCI voluntary scheme. We would like to take the leadership in certifying authentic yoga worldwide and for such a famous school to come into our fold is both a recognition of the value of the certification as well as contribution to our goal of securing leadership," said Dr. R. P. Singh, Secretary General, Quality Council of India (QCI).

SSSY was certified by third party auditing agency, FoodCert Private Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Projects Limited. FoodCert conducted the audit of the infrastructure facilities, processes and trainers before recommending the school for the certification. Sampat Suri, Head Certification Business of FoodCert (FCI) and S Krishnamurthy representing the Quality Council of India (QCI) presented the certificate to Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder of The Art of Living International Center at Bangalore Ashram on the occasion of Vijayadashami celebration.

''TQ Cert Services appreciates the hard work put in by the Sri Sri School of Yoga collectively to achieve this feat," said Suri. Among the many firsts, FoodCert is one of the first certifying bodies for Yoga schools and Sri Sri School of Yoga is the first school to achieve the certification through FoodCert.

Sri Sri School of Yoga offers teacher training and supports teachers in conducting yoga programs. The academic wing specializes in training yoga professionals through a series of training programs aimed at various levels of skill and proficiency, starting with generic yoga programs to specialized programs like yoga for children, yoga for corporates, yoga for pre and postnatal care and much more.

The certification recognizes the capabilities of the yoga school in imparting education as per the syllabus designed by QCI. In addition, students are exposed to an ashram lifestyle which enables them to imbibe the ethos of Yoga and live it as well.

The Quality Control of India was set up by the Ministry of AYUSH to standardize and organize the thousands of schools that impart education of Yoga across the country. As part of this initiative over the past two years, QCI evolved standards after extensive discussions with various stake holders and the QCI voluntary certification scheme for yoga professionals was launched.
