Overseas Volunteer for a Better India organizes Google Hangout with Dr. KiranBedi

Dr. KiranBediis addressing the NRI community througha  Google hangout organized by Overseas Volunteer for a Better India. The Google hangout is scheduled to begin at 9:30 PM (IST)  on Saturday,19th October 2013.Dr. Bedi is going to inspire the NRI community to play an active role in the 2014 elections by encouraging their friends and family back in India to come out and vote. Thousands of Indian citizens across USA, Germany, United Kingdom,Australia, South Africa & India are expected to be a part of this unique event.

OVBI (Overseas Volunteer for Better India) was launched couple of months ago and has already over 10,000 members across 25 cities in the US. The group mostly consist of youths who are very passionate about socio-political causes related to India.

OVBI volunteers have been calling people in India to make sure everyone registers to vote before the ECI deadline.More than 25,000 people have been reached all over India.OVBI has partnered with Code for India and several entrepreneurs in the Silicon Valley to develop cutting edge technology to turbo charge voter registration, education and engagement drive by Volunteer for a Better India.OVBI has created NRI teams in several corporations like Oracle, Cisco, Intel, ARM and cities for one-one outreach to NRIs for enrolling them into this campaign.

Aravind, mechanical engineer and OVBI spokesman from Dallas, TX says “Our intention is to inspire NRIs to take a pledge to reach out to 20 friends and family and ensure they go vote. In addition to make an impact on rural India we are also writing letters in local languages, making phone calls etc.”
