New Delhi: Spiritual guru Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar backed the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Addressing a Sant Sammelan in New Delhi, Ravi Shankar also hoped that the Supreme Court would review Sabarimala verdict.

Spiritual guru and Art of Living founder Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Sunday advocated for talks to ensure that Ram temple is built in Ayodhya. Addressing a Sant Sammelan, a gathering of over 300 seers in the national capital, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar suggested that prayers and talks should be held that the construction of Ram Temple is undertaken in Ayodhya.

Commenting on the Sabarimala issue, wherein the devotees of Lord Ayappa have been revolting against the Supreme Court's verdict which allowed entry of women between the age group of 10-50 to enter Kerala's Sabarimala shrine, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said that while the seers respect the decision of the Supreme Court, there is a need to review the petition in light of the age-old tradition.

"Saints in India had always worked for the country and worked as a support system whenever the country was in crisis. Two things which are a matter of concern are Sabarimala and Ram Mandir but we cannot forget SC is the pride of this country and we will always respect it. India always respected the women power in this country. This is a tradition which has been followed for years. When we intensely looked into the matter we realised how it has been practiced for the years. I am hopeful SC will look into the review petition and understand the sentiments of the devotees and people," Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said.
