7th of Nov 2017

Chandigarh: The Art of Living founder and spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar shared his tenets for happy, healthy and productive living at an event in Zirakpur on Monday evening.

Addressing a huge gathering at the event whose theme was Inner Peace, Outer Dynamism, the spiritual guru focused on "the need to overhaul our mind and bodies through meditation in order to negate the negative aura around us."

He said Punjab can wash out the growing nexus of drugs in the state. During his visit to the state, the spiritual leader also met farmers and sarpanches to discuss the ways to defeat the trend of drugs in the region. Sharing his experience after meeting the farmers, he said, "Many people, especially youngsters, have benefited from the teachings of The Art of Living, and have left drugs forever. There is a huge scope to work in Punjab and save many more lives."

At the gathering, the guru was asked about the reason for men and women both consuming drugs and alcohol openly. "Inner sorrows and insecurities draw them closer to such negativity, which might help them forget their worries for a while, but if they are motivated towards the real joys of life, drugs and alcohol will not matter to people," he replied.

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar also led a meditation session and encouraged people to practice meditation to experience real happiness, "which is there within and just needs to be identified."

When asked why young people in India call themselves atheists, he replied any kind of fashion reaches our country late. "At the time when countries like China and Russia have identified real happiness can be achieved only by walking on the path of meditation and the almighty, our youngsters too will realise the same." The spiritual leader, who has been in the news for pushing the Ayodhya Ram Mandir issue towards consensus, when asked about probable outcome of his efforts on the long-pending issue said, "My past record has been enough to substantiate whenever I have taken any job at hand, I have completed it successfully, let's keep our fingers crosses."
