23rd of Feb 2018

Art of Living founder Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar today opined that there would perhaps not be religious conflicts in the world if there are more women religious leaders.

"If there are more women religious leaders, perhaps there wont be religious conflicts in the world today," he said at 500 Women Achievers Confer at 'Life, a Mystical Journey' here.

He also asked women to assert their gender equality.

"Don't listen to somebody saying that women cannot lead in the religious and spiritual areas. Assert gender equality," he added.

The spiritual leader said women are the greatest influences in people's lives as they influence children, their spouses, parents and society.

Ravishankar said women have had all the powers in ancient history and mythology as they are revered and worshipped as Goddesses.

On the creativity of Indian women, he said people hardly know that Indian women have created 56,000 types of food.

"You go to a small province Tripura, close to the Bangladesh and Myanmar border... it is a little state and it has over 180 types of food varieties. People do not know about this," he added.

Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee said it was not about winning awards or setting the box office on fire, but telling stories with potential to create change.

"I feel that education will see us give birth to thousands of thought leaders," she said.

The actor said that whenever women hit a roadblock, rather than getting frustrated by it,"we take it around and solve it."

"Innovation is a part of our daily life. We learn to offer fresh unique interpretation to our audience," she said.
