to help prisoners

Chandigarh: With an aim to help prison inmates maintain and improve their health and reduce physical and mental stress due to various reasons, the Haryana government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Vyakti Vikas Kendra India (VVKI), in the presence of chief minister Manohar Lal and Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of Art of Living Foundation and VVKI, here on Tuesday.

​While DGP, Prisons, K P Singh and apex member of VVKI, Haryana, R K Sapra signed the MoU.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh said as per the MoU, yoga, meditation and other programmes would be conducted for the welfare of prisoners on regular basis with the help of VVKI in all the prisons of the state.

No fee or cost would be charged for conducting these programmes, he added. VVKI has been conducting stress management courses for inmates.
