16th of Mar 2019

CHANDIGARH: Police on Friday evening organised a 'Stress Free Policing' session with spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for its policemen at Police Lines, Sector 26 Chandigarh.

Over 2000 police personnel attended the evening session comprising meditation and wisdom talk. Director General of Police (UT) Sanjay Baniwal, DIG OP Mishra, SSP Nilambari Jagadale and other senior officials were also present during the session. An MoU was also signed by the Chandigarh Police and Art of Living Foundation during the session.

The MoU was signed to make 2,500 police personnel undergo training sessions in meditation, yoga and pranayam as a part of Government Executive Program (GEP) to enable them to handle everyday work stress with ease and manage their lifestyles better. These also include the new recruitment in the police force in future. While addressing the policemen, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said, "The job of police is quiet thankless and they tirelessly serve the society during festivities and sacrifice immensely. Learning breathing techniques and meditation will bring a phenomenal change in every relationship they are with since it will distress them immensely."

"We take in 10,000 litres of air every day and just knowing the fact that by breathing we can change our mind and emotions can work wonders," he added.
