New Training Center for Aspiring Jammu Electricians

Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir:  NITS Polytechnic, Indiranagar, Miran Sahib, under the aegis of the SSRDP (Sri Sri Rural Development Programme) has started a skills development center for aspiring electricians. This is Art of Living’s first such center in the state. The inaugural function was attended by nearly 60 volunteers and teachers on March 24, 2015.

Swami Ashok, Art of Living teacher, who performed the Guru puja, said this was 23rd such training center in the country. He expressed confidence that the centre would soon become a center of excellence.

Highlighting India’s unemployment problem and calling it “colossal,” Savinder Gupta, Center Director and Art of Living teacher said though the country’s economy showed signs of growth with an increase in youth population, there is severe paucity of quality labor due to lack of on-the-job skills.

With the blessings and inspiration of Gurudev, Art of Living’s SSRDP wing, Schneider Electric India foundation and NITS Polytechnic will work closely to provide vocational training to the youth, in order to empower them with the necessary skills for employment or to become entrepreneurs.

Knowledge and skill are the driving forces behind economic growth and social development, and SSRDP and NITS Polytechnic impart training in manufacturing and service sectors. Welding, beauty therapy, mobile repair and masonry are other branches that the institute is planning to launch soon. This joint venture is likely to bring immense progress to Jammu & Kashmir, Gupta said. He thanked Deepak Sharma and Dhawanji, trustees of SSRDP, for their support and cooperation. Tejasvi is the Student Welfare Officer of the institute, Art of Living teacher and state coordinator.
