Lonely Hearts on Valentine’s: Know That the Divine Loves You Very Dearly

By Denise Everheart

Feeling lonely and in need of a hug? Read Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s words of upliftment and know that the Divine loves you very dearly!

So it’s Valentine’s Day and you may be feeling lonely. It seems there is no one for you to hug, or to be hugged by, especially given how much social distancing we are currently doing. But don’t let that create a feeling of loneliness today or on any day. Not having a romantic partner at the moment (or not being able to see them) doesn’t mean you aren’t loved and can’t experience love. Romantic love is just one expression. Divine love is always being expressed, you just need to recognize it to feel it. Looking to wisdom and self-love, you can shift to a better place in both your heart and mind.

For me, there are no better words of upliftment than those from my spiritual teacher, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Sri Sri, a global humanitarian and well respected spiritual leader has touched the lives of millions across the globe.  For me, Sri Sri is a beautiful blend of Gandhi, Mother Teresa, and Eckhart Tolle. He embodies non-violence, service, wisdom and so much more all while striving to create a better world for each individual. His words of wisdom certainly have kept me afloat when loneliness and matters of the heart have been a struggle. Please read on for Sri Sri’s words of wisdom.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love…

Gurudev: “The whole world is full of messages of love. We just need the eye to see them and take them into our own lives.”

We have all heard that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And now we know that love also is in the eye of the beholder. See how things can shift when you shift into love.

Gurudev: “When you are soaked in love and are vibrating love, then people around you reciprocate that same love. This is a rule of nature!”

The Law of Attraction is steeped in the idea of increasing your vibration to a higher positive level and in the space of love in order to draw that which you desire.

Gurudev: “Don't accept people as they are. Just love them as they are.”

Acceptance is a natural mind saver. ‘It is what it is’ or ‘they are who they are’, both can go a long way to reducing your mental stress anguish. But coming from a space of love can transform strained or challenging relationships and take them to a better place without trying to change the other.

Gurudev: “Love is the most powerful thing on the planet. Do not let anybody, any situation, any cause, or any reason destroy that.”

You may be familiar with the song, “Don’t Rain on My Parade”, it is a fun, empowering song for when a situation seems like it might overshadow you. Try singing it at the top of your lungs and see if you feel better!

Relationships

Gurudev: “Don’t look for love but give love. When you start giving, it comes back multiplied many more times to you.”

Ancient wisdom from the Bible, “As you sow, so shall you reap,” also teaches this principle of whatever you do comes back to you. You might as well plant seeds of love!

Gurudev: “Hurt is indeed a part of love. The pain is inevitable.”

We are fools if we think we will never feel hurt when it comes to matters of the heart. But what we do with this pain determines whether we go down the rabbit hole of depression or emerge ready to love again.

Gurudev: “You are made up of the stuff called love. What you are seeking for here and there, is what you are.”

It is through deep meditation that it is possible to discover what and who we are. Love is our very essence!

Gurudev: “Keep your heart in a safe place. It is too delicate. Events and small things make strong impressions on it. And you cannot find a better place than the divine to keep your heart safe. Make the Divine Your Valentine.”

The best way to protect your heart is to meditate regularly giving yourself a beautiful resiliency. Meditation can be your shield of protection!
