Sri Sri Ravi Shankar - Humanitarian and Spiritual Leader in UK

London
16th June 2016

Renowned humanitarian and spiritual leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, whom Forbes Magazine identified as one of the top five most powerful figures in India and has reached over 300 million people worldwide, will be in the UK in June for a week long tour, including an event at The Royal Albert Hall.

Gurudev has inspired millions through courses that provide techniques and tools to live a deeper, more joyous life and has established non-profit organisations that recognise human identity above the boundaries of race, nationality and religion.

By permission of the Speaker of the House of Commons the Rt. Hon John Bercow, Gurudev has been invited to address Members of Parliament and Members of the House of Lords to speak on ‘Creating Social Cohesion for A Stress Free Violence Free Britain’ in the Speaker’s Chambers. Gurudev will also give the keynote address and Q and A session at the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales (ICAEW) on ‘Leadership, Mind or Matter?’ and he will also be attending the International Festival for Business in Liverpool.

His public tour from 12-19 June, entitled “Meditation 2.0 - Go Deeper”, will see Gurudev address the deeper comprehension and greater power of meditation and the next level of wellbeing, a market now three times larger than the pharmaceutical industry. Cities include Manchester (12th), Leicester (14th) and Edinburgh (16th), culminating in London, at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 19th June 2016.

He will also meet with the thousands of people who have already experienced his programmess, as well as influencers, MP’s and business leaders; leading them through meditations and engaging in topics linked to Britain's challenges on extremism, diversity and ethics in business. Gurudev's contribution to the challenges in these areas are underpinned by his profound expertise and understanding of yoga and meditation.

His expertise and success as a peacemaker in areas of conflict resolution, has been reinforced by his unique ability to bring people together through these practices. This was highlighted in March 2016 at the World Culture Festival - an event that celebrated 35 years of Gurudev’s organisation the Art of Living, where 3.75 million people from 155 different countries came together, to celebrate peace and to meditate with Gurudev.

In the past year Gurudev has:

  • Addressed UNESCO in Paris on “Inter-faith and Inter-Cultural Harmony”, the European Parliament in Brussels on the “Relevance of Yoga for decision makers” and 30,000 Yogi’s in Times Square New York on International Yoga Day as well as millions watching online around the world
  • Met with members of the United States Congress, speaking and leading them in meditation,
