A Healing touch at Ghor

In collaboration with Zikra Initiative Jordan, Art of Living conducted the Breath Water Sound workshop at Ghor Haditha in June 2010.

Women and men gathered at the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea to release stress, relax, breathe and meditate. The sessions took place in open air at sunset which made the setting even more calming. It was a completely new experience for everyone and participants felt more calm energized and motivated to face their daily challenges. They have learnt valuable tools which they will practice daily to be able to keep a positive outlook to life.

In exchange for Art of Living's workshop, Ghor residents offered Art of Living volunteers and friends a chance to learn about their rich culture and heritage through arts, cooking, and dance. On the last day of the course certificates were given, everyone danced the Dabkah and local Ghor residents taught Ammanis how to make bread, "Gollyet Bandora", a local traditional dish and other arts and crafts.

Today, Breath Water Sound is also offered to Iraqi, Sudanese, Somalis, Syrian and other refugees living in Amman.

Breath Water Sound overview:

Breath Water Sound is offered for the socially, economically, physically or emotionally challenged sections of society.
The workshop provides tools that improve over-all health, wellness and increase enthusiasm and mental focus. Participants learn breathing, sound relaxation, and meditation techniques. As these techniques eliminate stress from the system, the mind gains the clarity to solve problems - when individuals are uplifted the whole community is enriched.

A major component of the workshop is community service. The final two days of this four-day course are centered on community empowerment and taking responsibility for the needs of one's community.
