Mr. Shantanu Prakash

Mr. Shantanu Prakash runs an education company that works with about 15 million students across the world, mostly of them in India, and roughly about 8 million of them are young women who in 3-5 years will be ready to assume very important roles in society.
Young women increasingly choose roles and careers, that are not techno-centric but rather techno-phobic, only 8% of the class of 2010 in IIT were women. However, 80% of the class of 2010, of one of the leading fashion design institutes of India, were women.
But research has also shown that female led hi-tech start-ups, in Silicon Valley, generate higher revenues per dollar of invested capital, and have lower failure rates than those led by men. And only 12% of chief technology officers, of the leading fortune 500 companies, are women. But those companies that had the CTO's as women, performed far better, than those companies that had male CTO's.

Sound Bites

  • Women demonstrate a very different, and a very humanistic way of using technology, that seems far more relevant to this century than the male version of technology option. While a man would like to dominate technology, a woman would find ways to use technology to achieve a goal that is far greater than her-self.
