Yoga Alliance Certifies
3 Sri Sri Yoga Teachers

Recently, three Sri Sri Yoga teachers (Krishan Verma, Kamlesh Barwal and Dinesh Kashikar) received the highest certification (Experienced Registered Yoga Teachers) from Yoga Alliance after having taught for over 500 hours. Krishan Verma, the International Director of Sri Sri Yoga, was the first to receive this certification.

Yoga Alliance is an international body for yoga that certifies teachers from all over the world, allowing them to take yoga courses in any part of the world. The Yoga Alliance has also certified the Sri Sri Yoga School, which means that all the teachers from Sri Sri Yoga can apply for Yoga Alliance Certification after they’ve taught for 200 and/ or 500-hours.

One of the many stress-elimination courses offered by The Art of Living, Sri Sri Yoga is primarily Hatha Yoga. This practice is integrated with other paths of yoga for the full blossoming of human potential. “The purpose of yoga is to be into yourself… to bring integrity in you… to make you whole,” says Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder, The Art of Living. In Sri Sri Yoga, the wisdom of yoga is brought to you in a very simple and joyful manner. It is a combination of gentle yet effective series of asanas/ postures, pranayamas, meditation and yogic knowledge that are taught to nurture the body, mind and spirit.

Commenting on how Sri Sri Yoga is different than the other schools of yoga, Kamlesh says: “Yoga by definition means union. Talking of differences, defies the very definition. Basically, the content is the same, but the method of delivering the content may vary. Yoga helps you connect with your natural self and there are various techniques that have been passed down by many sages and maharishis to help achieve this union. However, various institutes have adapted different methods to deliver and transmit this knowledge.”

Kamlesh Barwal has been with The Art of Living for the last 12 years and has taught Sri Sri Yoga extensively in India, Kazakhstan, the Middle East, South East Asia, China and Russia.

Shares Kamlesh, “Since 1999, I’ve taught thousands of people. With Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s popularity and following, no place is remote any more. The whole world is changing. Few years ago, the stresses in society were of a different kind. In todays challenging world, mind requires better quality of rest, if not quantity. Art of Living courses help bring the required solace and relaxation, thereby full filling the needs of every person. Even in the most interior parts of Siberia, hundreds of people embraced yoga and have benefitted from its practice.”
